Preliminary Statement on Nepal’s House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly Elections 2017 (May 2018)

The first House of Representatives (HoR) elections under the new Constitution and the first-ever elections for the seven provincial assemblies were held in two phases, with the first phase on November 26 and the second on December 7, respectively 2017. Democracy Resource Center Nepal (DRCN) conducted long-term and short-term observations of both phases to assess the electoral processes before, during, and after the election days, as well as to monitor the overall political and security situation around these elections. This preliminary statement outlines key findings from the observation of both phases of these important elections.
