Title: Junior Researcher
LOE: Full time

Travel: Field visits around the country will be required



Democracy Resource Center-Nepal (DRCN) is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to promote democracy in Nepal through observation, research and objective reporting on issues such as implementation of the constitution and federalism, subnational governance, politics, democracy, human rights, census and elections.



DRCN is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Junior Researcher for its project ‘Observation of Post-Constitution Politics and Governance (OPPG)’. Under the direct supervision of the DRCN Director, the junior researcher will assist in research and analysis of field data and information on federalism, politics and subnational governance in Nepal.


Scope of Work:

  • Work with DRCN team to conduct desk and field research, review of literature, and draft reports.
  • Conduct interviews with different stakeholders relevant to DRCN’s research.
  • Travel to provinces and local units, including remote areas, as required to conduct research and organize stakeholder interactions.
  • Conduct media monitoring on themes related to research.
  • Manage, maintain and update DRCN social media, and website.
  • Maintain an overall record of DRCN’s organizational and program documents.


Qualification and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelors’ Degree.
  • Sound understanding of Nepali politics, governance and society is a must.
  • Ability to work individually and in team, conduct research and analyze issues related to politics and governance.

Language: Excellent command in Nepali and English; knowledge of other languages spoken in Nepal is an asset.

Payment and Schedule: In consideration for services described in the contract, and based on experience and expertise, DRCN will pay a competitive salary after negotiation.
